The FIA GT World Championship for GT1 and GT3 classes is the preeminent European-based GT racing series for high performance automobiles. The FIA GT1 class features ultra-fast highly developed
grand touring race cars such as Ferrari, Mercedes-Benz, Corvette, Maserati, Saleen, Aston Martin Vantage V12 and DBSR9, Ford GT, Nissan GT-R, Dodge Viper, and Lamborghini.
The FIA GT3 class features cars such as the Aston Martin GT3, Audi R8 LMS, BMW Z4 GT3, Nissan GT-R GT3, Mclaren MP4-12C, Ferrari 458 GT3, Ford GT, Lamborghini Gallardo LP600, Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG, and Porsche 911 GT3R.
The GT3 class allows limited technical development and amateur "gentlemen drivers" only. Leading cars are given weight and intake restrictor
penalties which gradually brings all cars to an equal footing on track. There is a Team Championship and Driver Championship. Each car has two drivers; each qualifies the same car and starts two races in a weekend.
Each 1 hour race requires a mandatory pit stop and driver change. FIA GT Races are held in Europe, the Middle East, South America, and China.
